In this guest blog Made In Hackney founder Sarah Bentley shares the story of how their award winning winning eco-community kitchen has helped launch the careers of vegan food movers and shakers.

Are you a vegan food start up or established company looking for a kitchen to hire?

Look no further than award winning eco-community kitchen and charity Made In Hackney. We have a 100% plant-based kitchen for hire in Stoke Newington, Hackney, London. 

Past clients include vegan food movers and shakers allplants, Club Mexicana  and Gozo Deli. The kitchen includes three hob islands, one range cooker and oven, a domestic oven, a dehydrator, a Vitamix and three work stations.

Storage space and permanent shelves in the freezers and refrigerators can be negotiated as a package and for last minute essential supplies the kitchen is located underneath the super rad community health food shop Food For All – very handy. 


The added bonus of hiring the kitchen is as opposed to giving your hard earned cash to a faceless landlord, instead your hire fee is being used to fund the organisations vital work in the community providing free and pay by donation plant-based cookery classes to groups in need such as low income families, people with long term health challenges and vulnerable young people.

We had all the equipment we needed to develop dozens of new recipes and made full use of the ovens, range cooker, dehydrator, blenders, mixers, fridges and of course freezers. The team were extremely understanding and supportive as we learnt how to run our kitchen team professionally. And of course, it was particularly nice for all of us cooking NOT to be sharing the space with any meat or other animal products!”
