First up… What exactly IS zero waste?

“Zero Waste is a set of principles focused on waste prevention that encourages the redesign of resource life cycles so that all products are reused. The goal is for no trash to be sent to landfills, incinerators, or the ocean.” - Wikipedia.

And what is Zero Waste Week?

Zero Waste Week is an award-winning campaign, running from 2nd of September - 6th of September, that raises awareness about the environmental impact of waste.

So, what can you do this week to support this campaign?

  • Think twice about what you throw in the bin. Think about whether you could reuse it, make it into something else, give it away, donate it etc.

  • Think twice about what you purchase, and try to only buy what is essential.

  • Research minimalism.

  • Have a list every time you go shopping to avoid buying what you don’t need.

  • Think about what reusable items you could use, instead of disposable e.g. steel straw instead of plastic.

  • Pick up a hobby that will help you on your low impact journey e.g. sewing.

  • Support zero waste stores, like Hetu.

  • When buying gifts, consider paying for tickets to an event, as opposed to physical items.

Vevolution Festival 2019

We listened to your feedback, and have put together the most eco-friendly Vevolution Festival so far. For the first time ever, we have a Low Impact Ticket, and this means that you can come along to the festival for way cheaper, and not receive the loaded goodie bag that we offer attendees. The Low Impact Ticket is £20 cheaper than general entry! This year, we are working with brilliant people like Immy Lucas who will advise us on how we can be more eco conscious, and sustainable. During the festival, we are introducing a bottle renting system where you can borrow a bottle to fill up throughout the day, because there will be no plastic cups to use!

It is so important to not only listen to your customers/attendees, but to also continuously improve the way you do things! This is the just the beginning of Vevolution becoming the most sustainable festival you have ever seen!

Join us on the 16th of November at London’s iconic BFI on the Southbank for Vevolution Festival 2019. We are so proud of the line-up this year, and we can’t wait to share everything that we have planned!
