On Saturday the 13th of July, LUSH Studio in Soho, London was host for Vevolution’s ‘Dragon’s Den’ style pitching competition - Pitch + Plant.
If you didn’t already know, Pitch + Plant is the UK’s first plant-based pitching competition; created by Vevolution founders, Damien and Judy, in 2017.
This competition aims to help early stage startups access funding for their business.
Overall, 50 startups applied, and were eventually whittled down to 7 finalists that represent some of the UK’s most exciting plant-based businesses.
On the evening, these 7 finalists live pitched to an audience of 100 people, as well as the judges.
After much deliberation from the judges, two incredible companies emerged as winners of the 2019 Pitch + Plant.
Club Cultured: They create organic tempeh that’s high in protein, and gluten-free.
The Well-Bean Company: They create vegan milk chocolate and contribute profits to helping the charity Young Minds.
Both these companies will receive a seed investment directly from Vevolution, in an exciting expansion of how Vevolution support plant-based startups. We’re incredibly happy to start this journey with Club Cultured and The Well-Bean Company - it’s going to be brilliant to see these startups flourish.
