FRUU is a UK indie cosmetic company specialising in sustainable, vegan skincare products, made from surplus fruit materials.
Started in 2016, FRUU aims to provide affordable, loveable products that resonate with eco-conscious Millennials and Gen Z. Already a multi-award winning business, FRUU develops, designs and handcrafts all products in-house in their Berkshire workshop. FRUU currently has a range of 10 fruitilicious lip balms, 8 highly-tinted colour balms, and 2 coffee scrubs.
Last year, FRUU founder, Terrance took part in our 2018 Pitch & Plant, and won! We have had a great relationship with this eco-conscious business since then, and their products are always a well-loved addition to our goodie bags. It is so good to see inspiring, plant-based businesses in our community thriving, and being recognised for their innovation.
Now, FRUU have won the Holland & Barrett innovation pitch, and have launched their lip balms in 815 stores nationwide. A huge congratulations to the team!
Founder Terence, a cosmetic scientist and secondary school science teacher, started FRUU Cosmetics when he realised no sustainable cosmetics were available for his cosmetic obsessed students.
A word from the founder:
"In a Year 10 cosmetics science lesson, my students showed me the cosmetics they were using. I noticed that all of them were made from petrochemicals or natural materials that are water/land/fossil fuel intensive. The so-called green beauty products are out of reach for most people. There has to be more sustainable and accessible alternatives."
FRUU Cosmetics has plans to release more product lines in the next few months, including a hand cream and face mask.
FRUU's vegan-friendly Avocado and Watermelon Lip Balms (£2.99), and Rare-Coral and Strawberry-Creme Tinted Colour Balms (£4.99) have launched in 815 Holland & Barrett stores nationwide, hoping to strike a chord with the increasingly eco-conscious Millennials.
