DID YOU KNOW THAT BOL foods saves the equivalent of 91,000 square metres of farm land, 7 million metres of water and 194 tonnes of CO2 each year.
The amazing folk at BOL foods will be celebrating their 4th birthday on the 29th of April! We cannot believe that this plant-powered food brand has been going strong for almost 4 years. They certainly do not show any signs of slowing down yet!
As you already know, Vevolution is all about giving incredible entrepreneurs a platform to spread inspiration, and encourage others to make positive change. Founder of BOL, Paul Brown, has been such a perfect fit for our events, as his story is so interesting, and he has reams of advice for aspiring plant-powered entrepreneurs.
We feel so fortunate to have such a close relationship with BOL - from them being our headline sponsor at Vevolution Festival 2018, and all of our events throughout 2019, to inviting us to London Fashion Week! There’s no doubt that we’ll be celebrating the 29th of April with one of BOL’s hearty dinner boxes (or two).
A QUICK TIMELINE SINCE BOL’S LAUNCH IN 2015
In year one, BOL donated 100% of its profits to its partner charity, Action Against Hunger.
For the first two years, over half of the BOL portfolio of Salad Jars and Veg Pots had recipes that contained meat and fish in them. Paul made the smart decision to drop all of these recipes from the portfolio and in doing so, halved the size of the business overnight in 2017, with an immediate decline in sales.
BOL then launched a range of protein and immune boosting Super Soups, which led to them becoming the 4th largest soup brand in the UK.
In 2018, BOL ditched dairy completely and became 100% plant-based.
In January, BOL released their 95% plastic free Dinner Box range, which includes recipes like Bang Bang Potato Katsu Curry!
And these major changes have led to incredible in-year performance with the brand on track to grow by 139% YOY. Congrats BOL!
Founder, Paul Brown, says:
“It really is quite incredible to think that BOL was born only 4 years ago. We’re celebrating this milestone and I want to take the opportunity to firstly thank the direct and virtual BOL team who work tirelessly each and every day to deliver on our ultimate purpose, to ‘inspire the world to eat more plants.’ Secondly, I would like to thank all of the people who continue to support us by picking up BOL in the shops, putting pictures on social and who give us feedback, which is so helpful as we develop and aim to improve what we do each and every day.”
SO WHAT’S NEXT FOR BOL?
Paul is on a mission to develop innovation so that BOL will be available at any time of day across multiple categories and ultimately become the #1 naturally plant- powered food brand on the planet. BOL promises never to be boring, never to compromise on taste, or quality and to always use our business as a force for good.
