The exciting news keeps on coming for plant-based businesses in the UK. This week Indian street food business, SpiceBox has announced they have secured £450,000 of funding. This comes just a few weeks after the announcement that SpiceBox have launched their first ever permanent stall at KERB Camden.
SpiceBox founder, Grace Regan who in 2015 was named one of the UK's top young entrepreneurs by startups.co.uk and was shortlisted for both Red Magazine Women of the Year Award and Young British Foodie awards in 2016.
Grace who will be joining our food panel at Vevolution Festival next month launched SpiceBox from her home kitchen in 2016. They will use the £450,000 investment to grow their business beyond the streets and become a key player in the growing vegan market.
The funding comes from a small group of industry experts, entrepreneurs and an impact investment fund. For lead investors, 2enable Partners, SpiceBox is their first plant-based investment to date. The US-based partnership focus their investments on start-ups with a positive social and environmental impact, and were the first investors in Just Giving.
On the launch SpiceBox Founder Grace said: "After 18 months of hard graft, cooking and selling SpiceBoxes from my home as well as the streets and fields of the UK, I'm very excited to embark on the next phase of SpiceBox. It's fantastic to be part of a thriving community of plant-based entrepreneurs in London and the backing we've received pays testament to the fact that London is fast becoming the plant-based capital of Europe. Gone are the days of veganism being associated with falafel-eating hippies; the exponential growth of this movement isn't a fad, it's a key part in building a sustainable future where the planet and its population can thrive."
